About

I’m a maker, I’ve always been a maker. Before I was school age my grandfather bought me tools and taught me how to sharpen chisels. I made aeroplanes, rockets and trucks from firewood and scraps.

I’ve spent my working life to date as a designer and academic – the last 15 years as a professor of design education and graphic design lecturer. Before this as an architectural lighting designer contributing to projects like the Millennium Dome and ‘The Gherkin’, (I’ve been involved in three Stirling Architecture Prize winning projects, and a gold award at the Cannes Lions Advertising Festival – stories for another time).
